SOUTHERN COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB show held on Saturday 11th January was the first CHAMPIONSHIP show of 2025. The judge was Fiona Findlay (Rhiconich) from Forfar in Scotland. Fiona had a lovely entry of 100/134 to judge.
DCC & BEST IN SHOW was Christine Lewis’ Ch Fallowfield Fellman with RESERVE BEST IN SHOW going to Serena Parker & Graham Stevens’ Serenaker Agatha Raisin who had won a lovely OB class before being awarded her first BCC. RCC winners were Serena & Graham’s Ch Serenaker Armani and Pam & Lynda Havard’s Annavah Teardrop. BEST PUPPY IN SHOW was David Craig’s Davricard Bianca with BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW going to the Havards’ Annavah Buddy Holly.

Congratulations to Luisa Fallon’s Molesend Jackpot who won BOB, BPIB, HG3 and HPG1 at Bon Accord KA open show held at Inverurie on 11th January. Jackpot also won AV Hound Minor Puppy, all judged by Kevin Young (Sunkap).

The NORTHERN AND MIDLANDS COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB held their open show on 8th February. The judge was Mrs Claire Allen (nee Chapman) (Balderstone).
SBC members in the top awards were David Craig, Christine Lewis and Samantha Goldberg. David’s Davricard Bianca was BB, Samantha’s Molesend Impish was RBB and Christine’s Fallowfield Romeo was BD. Bianca (below left) went on to be declared BEST IN SHOW and BEST PUPPY IN SHOW with Romeo (below right) taking RESERVE BEST IN SHOW.

Luisa Fallon’s Molesend Jackpot won BOB, BPIB and HPG1 at East Of Scotland Premier open show on 2nd March. Breed judge was Megan Anderson (Fireglove/Vysaris) and the group judge was Dick Morrison (Bowerwell).

South of the border two SBC members also had a succesfull day on 2nd March.
David Craig’s Davricard Bianca was RBB at WEST MERCIA BEAGLE CLUB open show which was judged by Mrs Jackie Fraser (Wyvisview).
Further north in Cumbria Christine Hartland attended Whitehaven & District Canine Association’s back to back limit shows. At the morning show Franjean Check Me Out at Fairleedale VW won BVIS and at the afternoon show she was RBVIS.

Congratulations to Crufts 2025 BEST OF BREED winner Ch Annavah Princess Tiana owned by Lynda & Pam Havard. This is the third year running that Tiana has won this award. She is pictured above with Lynda.
This year’s judge was Mrs Jill Philpott (Charterwood). The entry was 77 dogs/101 entries and 107 bitches/130 entries giving a total entry of 184 beagles making 231 entries with 33 of the 184 being international entries.
Congratulations to the Scottish owned beagles who made it into the placings.
Luisa Fallon’s Molesend Jackpot was 1st in Puppy Dog and Newlin Rambler AW(G) was 4th in Post Graduate Dog and 5th in Good Citizen Dog Scheme Dog.
Donna Fitzpatrick’s Blunderhall Moonwalker at Springstorm was 5th in Veteran Bitch.
Anne Binks’ Tannahill Calissa was 3rd in Limit Bitch.

FOUR COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB Open show judged by Liz Breeze (Parkebreeway) was held on Sunday 16th March.
David Craig’s Davricard Bianca was BB, BIS and BPIS. Lynda and Pam Havard’s Annavah Justify was BD and RBIS. Christine Lewis had two in the Best Dog Line Up, Fallowfield Romeo who was RBD and Fallowfield Charming Boy who was BPD. Samantha Goldberg’s Molesend Jazzy was RBB and the Havards had further success with Ch Annavah Knick Knack who was BVIS.

The Scottish Beagle Club AGM was held on 27th March where Chairperson Liz Calikes, pictured left, retired from the committee. Liz had served on the committee for over 30 years and continuously for the last 23 years, 14 of which as Chair. Liz had also been secretary of the Club for a number of years in the 1980s. The committee is thankful for all Liz has given to the Club over the years and is very pleased to announce she is now Honorary President, Kathleen Cooper having retired from this position.
Also retiring were Treasurer John Sneddon and committee members Morven MacDonald and Liz McEwan.
The committee welcomed Richard Ravell and Wendy Kilgour as the new Chair and Treasurer, and Kelly Carruthers and Luisa Fallon who became committee members.

Also at the AGM the 2024 winner of the Scottish Beagle of the Year Challenge Trophy and the Craigmount Trophy was announced and the trophies presented to Hazel Deans whose Ch Gempeni Cornflower ShCEx was winning them for the fourth year running. Maisie is pictured left with the trophies.
