April News begins with more news of Boss as his success in agility continues. The clever boy won out of G5 by winning his agility class at Kingdom of Fife Agility KC show on 6th April so now moves up to G6.

The HOUND ASSOCIATION OF SCOTLAND held their CHAMPIONSHIP show at Errol, Perthshire on 14th April. Beagles were judged by Liz Calikes.

At the recent AGM chairperson Liz Calikes presented the annual trophies to winning owner Hazel Deans. The Scottish Beagle of the Year Challenge Trophy and the Craigmount Trophy were won by Ch Gempeni Cornflower ShCEx. This is the third year running that Maisie, pictured left, has won the trophies. WELKS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW was held at Malvern from 25th - 28th April. Beagles were judged on Friday 26th where Serena Parker & Graham Stevens’ Ch Serenaker Armani notched up another DCC. The STAR of the day was Pam and Lynda Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana who took BCC and BOB before going on to win HG1. She then returned on Sunday to win BEST IN SHOW.
Judges were Mr John Thirlwell (Beagles), Mr Bill Browne-Cole (Hound Group) and Mr John Ritchie (Best in Show).

DEVON, CORNWALL & SOUTH WEST BEAGLE SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW was held on 5th May and judged by Andrea Keepence-Keyte. Pam and Lynda Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana was awarded her 35th CC before going on to win BEST IN SHOW.

BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW was held on 12th May at Staffordshire County Showground. Judge Tim Jones awarded the DCC to Serena Parker & Graham Stevens’ Ch Serenaker Armani and the BCC and BOB to Pam and Lynda Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana. The same owners also won the RDCC and BPIB with Annavah Justify. Tiana went on to win HG3 judged by Mr Stuart Milner and Justify won HPG1 judged by Mr Stuart Byrne. Armani had further success, winning the Eukanuba Champion Stakes overall judged by Mr K Robin Newhouse.

Beagles were judged on the second day of the SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB DOUBLE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW on 17th May. The first (May) show was judged by Mr T H Johnston MPhil who awarded a first DCC to Christine Lewis’ Fallowfield Fellman with the RDCC going to Samantha Goldberg’s Rossut Villein at Molesend JW. The BCC and BOB went to Pam and Lynda Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana and RCC to Claire Tanner’s Ch Felinoak Ffansi Nansi JW. BPIB was Kelly Diamond and Ben Carruthers’ Kelcardi All Fired Up attending his first show. His litter sister Kelcardi Playing With Fire was BPB. Best Special Beginner was Kirsty Stoddard’s Poppyville First Edition and BVIB went to Susan Arden’s 9 year old Madika Spot On JW ShCM AW(P) VW. Only the BPIB managed to get into the group competitions due to the judging clashing with that of the second SKC show (October held in May).
The judge for the second show was Ann Tofts. Rossut Villein at Molesend JW went one better and won the DCC with the RDCC going to the Banks’ Forgebanks Santiano, the winner of junior dog. Winning her 3rd and crowning BCC was Dufosee Julianna avec Annavah owned by Pam and Lynda Havard. Claire Tanner went home with a second RBCC, the recipient this time being Felinoak El Koko Loko. The litter brother and sister Kelcardi All Fired Up and Kelcardi Playing With Fire repeated their wins from the first show so it was a super first show for Kelly and Ben and their new puppies. Winners of Best Special Beginner and Best Veteran were also a repeat of the first show. Julianna was Best of Breed but was unplaced in the Hound group. K All Fired Up was shortlisted to final five in the Hound Puppy group. No placing for the beagle in the Special Beginner’s group but M Spot On went on to win HVG2 judged by Mrs E Stannard.
Scottish owned beagles who achieved placings or wins at one or both of the shows were Tannahill Ezra, Janfrey Valentino, Newlin Rambler AW(S), Tannahill Clarissa, The Little Apple Of Your Eye, Kelcardi Claudia, Jalhar She’s Ace, Kelcardi Kiss And Tell and Ch Gempeni Cornflower ShCEx.

Three SBC members were in the top awards at BATH CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW held on 25th May. Judge Mr M Ord awarded the BCC and BOB to Pam and Lynda Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana with RCC going to Sam Goldberg’s Ch Molesend Dormouse. It was a second DCC in two weeks for Christine Lewis’ Fallowfield Fellman who won his first a week earlier at SKC.

Held on the 31st May SOUTHERN COUNTIES GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW and SOUTHERN COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB OPEN SHOW were the last shows of the month. The Championship show was judged by Mrs C E Cartledge who awarded a first DCC to Parker & Stevens’ Serenaker Saltydog with the same owners’ Ch Serenaker Armani taking the RDCC. BCC and BOB went to Ch Annavah Princess Tiana owned by the Havards whose Annavah Justify took BPIB. The BVIB award went to Ch Shercroft Apollo JW ShCM owned by the partnership of Hunt & Norris.
The judging of SCBC Open show followed and it was another super result for Serenaker Saltydog who was BD and Best In Show. RBD and RBIS was Sam Goldberg’s Molesend Giorgio. Serena Parker & Graham Stevens finished the day by winning BVIS with Ch Serenaker Elle’s Belles. The judge was Dawn Coates.

THE BEAGLE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW was held at Stoneleigh on Saturday 1st June. Dogs were judged by Mr Deryck Player and bitches by Mrs Melanie Raymond. Mr Player awarded the DCC to Parker & Stevens’ Ch Serenaker Armani. It was a clean sweep for SBC members in the bitches with the BCC going to the Havards’ Ch Annavah Princess Tiana, RBCC to Ch Serenaker Maid In America, BVB Ch Serenaker Elle’s Belles both owned by Parker & Stevens, and BPB to Claire Jones’ Clairdale Galatea at her first show. The services of referee Mrs Barbara Roderick weren’t required as both judges agreed on Tiana BIS, Armani RBIS & BOS and Elle’s Belles BVIS. Best Working In Show went to Susan Arden’s Madika Spot On JW ShCM AW(P) VW (pictured right).

Hounds were judged at THREE COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW on Thursday 6th June where SBC members won DCC, BCC and BVIB. Judge of beagles Mike Denny awarded the Havards’ Ch Annavah Princess Tiana her 39th CC. Christine Lewis’ Fallowfield Fellman won his 3rd CC and is the latest beagle Champion (subject to RKC approval). Fellman is just over 18 months old and is by Ch Serenaker Armani x Fallowfield Raya. He had won his first CC just three weeks earlier at SKC. Susan Arden’s Madika Spot On JW ShCM AG(P) VW won another BVIB followed by VHG3 judged by Mrs L J Paradise. Tiana was BOB and went on to win HG1 judged by Mr M Ord who had awarded her the BCC and BOB less than two weeks earlier.

The weekend of 15th and 16th June was a busy one with THE SCOTTISH BEAGLE CLUB’S CHAMPIONSHIP and OPEN SHOWS held at Lanark on Saturday and BORDER UNION CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW held at Kelso on Sunday.

BORDER UNION the following day was judged by Brian Foster. The DCC and BCC were a repeat of the previous day with Ch Serenaker Armani being awarded the DCC and Ch Annavah Princess Tiana the BCC and BOB. Tiana went on the win HG2 judged by Colin Ashmore. RDCC went to Deaconfield Kingcraft and RBCC to Ch Felinoak Ffansi Nansi. Best puppy in breed was also a repeat of her previous day’s success for Kelcardi Playing With Fire who went on to win HPG4 judged by Mr R Kinsey.

BLACKPOOL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW was held on Saturday 22nd June where Beagles were judged by Mr Howard Ogden.
Congratulations to Sam Goldberg whose Rossut Villein at Molesend JW was awarded his 3rd and crowning CC. His previous CCs were won at N&MCBC August 2023 (judge Maureen Henningsson-Dundas) and SKC (Oct) May 2024 (judge Ann Tofts). Serena Parker & Graham Steven’ Ch Serenaker Armani was the winner of the RDCC and Pam & Lynda Havard’s Annavah Teardrop was Best Junior in Breed. Susan Arden’s Madika Spot On JW ShCM AW(P) VW added another BVIB to her list.

WINDSOR CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW was held on Saturday 29th June where Beagles were judged by Mrs Helen Howell.
DCC was won by Christine Lewis’ Fallowfield Fellman. BCC and BOB went to the Pam and Lynda Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana. She went on to win HG2 judged by Mrs M A Holder. The same owners won BPIB with Annavah Justify who later won HPG4 judged by Mr S Plane.
