At CITY OF BIRMINGHAM Championship show on the 1st September beagles were judged by Mrs Nikki Peterson. Lynda and Pam Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana (pictured left) picked up her 25th CC and BOB. She went on to win HG4 judged by Mr S Mallard.

Serena Parker also had a good day with Ch Serenaker Armani taking the RDCC and 4th in the Champion Stakes (judge Mr S Hall) and Ch Serenaker Elle’s Belles who was BVIB, HVG4 (judge Ms E Newton) and 4th in Veteran Stakes. (judge Mr Kevin Young).

Only one SBC member in the top awards at RICHMOND Championship show on the 10th September. After winning his final puppy class David Craig’s Davricard Gaultier went on to win his second CC followed by BOB. He was also BPIB. Although Gaultier turned 12 months two days earlier he was able to compete as a puppy due to the rule “not exceeding 12 calendar months of age on the first day of the show” which was the 8th September. The judge was Georgina Kemp.

After basking in the recent hot “summer” temperatures it was 10+ degrees cooler for DARLINGTON and FOUR COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB Championship shows held at Ripon Racecourse on 16th September. The lack of sunshine and a chilly breeze added to the very autumnal feeling day but at least it stayed dry.

Judging at Darlington was Mrs Maureen Caney followed by Nicola Firth judging Four Counties BC.

BCC and BOB at Darlington was the Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana who went on to win HG4 judged by Colin Gillanders. Tiana also won the RBCC at Four Counties BC. Winner of the RBCC at Darlington was David Craig’s Annavah Belinda of Davricard who is Tiana’s full younger sister. Other SBC members in the top awards were Claire Jones, whose Ch Newlin Preston to Clairdale JW won the RDCC at Four Counties, and the owners of the veterans Ch Shercroft Apollo JW ShCM and Madika Spot On JW ShCM AW(P) VW They were BVD and BVB at both shows and shared the top spot with Apollo owned by Marion Hunt and Jo Norris BVIB at Darlington and Spot On owned by Susan Arden BVIS at Four Counties BC.

There were two Championship shows held on the last weekend of September.  BELFAST was the first one held on the day of the autumn equinox. Beagles were judged by Moray Armstrong who awarded the DCC and Best of Breed to David Craig’s Davricard Gaultier so becoming the latest champion in the breed at just 12 months old. David had further success with Annavah Belinda of Davricard winning the RBCC. Christine Lewis’ Fallowfield Fellman was the winner of the RDCC and Best Puppy in Breed. Fellman went on to win HPG2 judged by Jim McGhie.

The following day the WELSH BEAGLE CLUB Championship show was held at Llanidloes. There were no Scottish exhibitors but three SBC members took top awards. BEST IN SHOW went to Serena Parker and Graham Stevens’ Ch Serenaker Armani. This was Arnie’s 23rd CC. RDCC went to Samantha Goldberg’s Rossut Villein at Molesend JW and RBCC to Lynda and Pam Havard’s Ch Annavah Princess Tiana. The judge was Mr Alistair Parker.
