July to September

July

There were two Championship and two Breed Open Shows held over the first weekend of July.

First up was BOSTON CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW held at Rutland Showground on Saturday 5th. Mrs Helen Kerfoot (Abydachs) was awarding CCs for the first time.

Congratulations to Serena Parker & Graham Stevens whose Ch Serenaker Armani was awarded his 49th CC which means he is the new DCC Record Holder. Serena and Armani are pictured below with the judge.

RDCC went to the Havards’ Ch Annavah Justify. David Craig’s Davricard Madonna was awarded her first BCC while her kennel mate Davricard Astrid was BPIB. RBCC was Sam Goldberg’s Ch Molesend Impish. Armani was BOB. Astrid went on to win HPG1 judged by Mr Colin Woodward.

Following on after the completion of the Boston judging was Southern Counties Beagle Club Open Show. It had originally been scheduled to take place in conjunction with Windsor Championship show the previous week but when Windsor was cancelled due to the heatwave some quick thinking enabled the show to held with Boson Show instead.

The judge was Ed Casey (Sandylands). There was more success for David Craig with Astrid winning BEST IN SHOW & BEST PUPPY IN SHOW. Madonna was RBB and RESERVE BEST IN SHOW. Pam & Lynda Havards’ Annavah Top Notch was RBD and Joan Lennard’s Butterow Rumba was BVB.

Congratulations to David Craig who had a very successful day! Davricard Madonna was awarded her 3rd CC and becomes David’s latest Champion (subject to RKC confirmation). She had won her first two CCs just two weeks earlier at Boston and Beagle Association shows so didn’t have long to wait for her third! RBCC went to her young kennel mate Davricard Astrid. August

Hounds were judged on Sunday 2nd August at PAIGNTON & DISTRICT FANCIERS ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW. Held at Westpoint Arena near Exeter, this is the most southerly and westerly location of all the General Championship shows which is the main reason it does not attract the biggest of entries. The judge Mr AJ Bongiovanni (Ankors) was awarding CCs in the breed for the first time.

The RDCC went to Serena Parker & Graham Stevens’ Ch Serenaker Armani.

David Craig had a very successful day winning BCC & BOB with Ch Davricard Bianca and RBCC & BPIB with Davricard Astrid. Bianca was unable to compete in the Hound Group due to the RKC rule which does not permit RKC Board members to show under fellow board members. However Astrid made up for this by winning HPG1 judged by Mr N Gourley making David’s long 333 mile journey well worthwhile.

Five days after the long drive to Paignton David Craig made another long journey, this time to BOURNEMOUTH CANINE ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW held at New Park, Brockenhurst, Hampshire where hounds were judged on Friday 7th August. It was another worthwhile trip as Davricard Madonna was awarded her 4th BCC followed by BOB and her young kennel mate Davricard Astrid won her 3rd RBCC on the trot and was BPIB. Awarding CCs in the breed for the first time was Mr Russell Mosedale (Knightsbay). Madonna went on to win HG4 judged by Mr Frank Whyte who also judged the Puppy Group and awarded Astrid HPG1. This meant another long drive back to Bournemouth two days later for the judging of BPIS but Astrid went no further.
